Rick Riordan, born on June 5, 1964, in Texas, is an award-winning American author best known for his “Percy Jackson” series. However, Mr. Riordan’s creativity extends far beyond the adventures of the famous Percy. Here are some of the different series this great author has written:

Percy Jackson Series

Already well-known to the public, the Percy Jackson series follows the adventures of a demigod: the son of Poseidon. Two books from this series have been adapted into films, and a series produced by Disney+ has been available since 2023.In this series, we follow Percy, a teenager who discovers that he is a demigod. After being attacked by his math teacher, who turns out to be a mythological monster, and being unjustly expelled from his school, Percy is finally attacked by an enraged Minotaur. Wrongly accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt, he must prove his innocence if he wants to stay alive. He then embarks on a quest with his friends Grover and Annabeth, a quest that could very well be fatal to them all…The saga currently has 7 books. Two sequel series feature the same character: one with the main character of the author’s second series, Kane, in Percy Jackson and the Kane Chronicles, which includes 3 books, and another in Percy Jackson and the Secrets of Olympus, which includes 4 books. But the world of Percy Jackson is far from over, and we find the character and the camp in other series such as The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo.

The Kane Chronicles

When the Egyptian gods awaken, Kane becomes the target of the most dangerous of them: Set.Sadie and Carter Kane discover that the pharaohs are not all dead and buried. Neither are their gods. They themselves are descendants of powerful magicians, the only ones capable of preventing Set, the god of chaos, from returning to earth. To do so, they must accept unexpected help. The goddess Isis inhabits Sadie’s mind, while Horus, the son of Osiris, lives in Carter. Accompanied by these somewhat burdensome allies, the two heroes begin their hunt for Set, the god of the Red Pyramid. This trilogy was nearly adapted by Netflix, which bought the film rights in 2020, but earlier this year, the author announced that the platform had decided not to adapt the three works.

The Heroes of Olympus

Continuing in the universe of Percy Jackson, we meet three new characters. But when Jason, Piper, and Leo arrive at Camp Half-Blood, the only refuge for demigod children, they think they are finally safe. However, the atmosphere around them is one of war, and rumors of a terrible curse spread from one demigod to another. Worse still: Jason, Piper, and Leo are the chosen ones for a dangerous quest. The trio has four days to rescue Hera and prevent the curse from being fulfilled.A sequel to Percy Jackson but from new perspectives and with new demigods, this saga has 5 books to its name.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard

A trilogy centered on Norse gods, we discover Magnus Chase, an orphan living on the streets of Boston. But his world changes when a stranger wakes him under a bridge to warn him that he is being hunted.Only moments later, he finds himself with his uncle, with whom relations are rather tense, who tells him that his missing father was actually a Norse god and that the gods of Asgard are on the brink of war. If Magnus does not quickly find the sword his father lost 2,000 years ago, it could mean the end of the world.

The Trials of Apollo

One hundred dollars, a driver’s license in the name of Lester Papadopoulos, and acne: that’s all Zeus left Apollo before sending him to earth (specifically, to New York) as punishment. Weak and disoriented, this four-thousand-year-old god will have to learn to survive in the modern world before he can earn Zeus’s forgiveness. But Apollo has many enemies—gods, monsters, and even some mortals who would like to take advantage of the situation to destroy him forever. If he wants to survive, there is only one solution: go knock on Percy Jackson’s door and reach Camp Half-Blood.With 5 volumes, The Trials of Apollo once again takes us to Camp Half-Blood, where we follow the adventures of the Greek god in his most vulnerable form: as a human.

As you can see, Rick Riordan’s imagination is a treasure trove for mythology fans. Anyone who loves myths and wants to embark on a journey to Olympus or Asgard, don’t hesitate for another second, and for both young and old alike, dive into the books of this bestselling author, Rick Riordan.
