I don’t know about you, but for me, Mea Culpa wasn’t that great. I tried, I really tried to like it. I read the books when I was younger, books that I enjoyed at the time, but now, as an adult and more awake to the state of the society we live in, I don’t think I like it anymore. I don’t know, but all this “Oh Nick is going to save me” thing isn’t really my thing, because you know, I’ll save myself, thank you. Anyway, I watched My Fault London, and the first time, I didn’t like it much… I turned off the movie and moved on. I only rewatched it out of pure distress and boredom, telling myself that by watching it fully, I could form a real opinion, not just with 20 minutes. That’s why, after watching the movie, I still wonder why My Fault London is not the original?

First of all, the story is still pretty basic. It’s, in broad strokes, the same story as the Spanish version. Nick, Noah, Lion, Jenna, and Ronny, they’re all there. However, I had fewer problems with this version. Why, you may ask? Well, for starters, the car storyline is more developed. This is one of the big reasons I prefer this version. Noah explains her past with her father, she takes Nick on a track to drive a car, and the story seems to focus more on NASCAR-type racing. Continuing with cars, the final scene where Nick helps Noah is MUCH more believable. I mean, doing a drift like in the first film with both cars stuck together on a dock, please, give me a break… In this version, the McLaren crashes into a wall, and it’s sad, but it’s rather realistic. At least, much more so than in the Spanish version.

Now, let’s talk about the actors. It’s generally hard to change actors in a film with so many similarities in the story. I mean, little changes besides the location and actors. It’s a tough challenge to make this work. But the gamble paid off because, for me, these actors work much better together than the original ones. And I hate to say it, but seriously, I found their chemistry stronger and much better represented.
The only one I missed a bit was Lion; when I think of Lion, I still imagine the one from Mea Culpa. Anyway, at this point, the movie didn’t leave as much of an impact on me as the first one. Yes, overall it was a bit better, but not enough to truly win me over. What made me really prefer My Fault London was:
1. The actress who plays Noah and her style in the film – absolutely AMAZING.
2. The soundtrack, which was, let’s admit, super cool.
My Fault London : The Soundtrack
Lily Allen, Conan Gray, Little Simz, Charli XCX, Big PIIG, Gretel, Between Friends, Banks, Britney Spears, Dutch Actors, Alan Walker, Troye Sivan, Mallrat, Olivia Dean, Holly Humberstone, and even Asha Banks – let’s just say we’re well served with great music. Several times, the music took me out of the movie, but for once, in a good way, because every time I thought, “Oh, this one’s amazing.” For music lovers, we’ve left the soundtrack right here:
Asha Banks, This New Icon
And yes, surprise, the actress who plays Noah, Asha Banks, is also, if you have a keen eye, in the list of singers on the soundtrack. We can all thank her for saving the movie on her own. So, in addition to being a great actress with an absolutely perfect style in the film and in real life, she’s also a singer, performer, and composer. She should be running the White House right now!
Throughout the film, her outfits are absolutely perfect, and it’s the London style everyone should wear. I still wonder where her jacket went during the race, but that’s just because I REALLY love that jacket.
To conclude this article, I must leave you with the best looks of Asha and Noah.
