The Murder on the Links is Agatha Christie’s third novel, and thus the third installment in our “Agatha Archives” series. I hope you enjoyed the previous two! Now, let’s dive into The Murder on the Links.
The Murder on the Links brings us back to the adventures of Poirot and Hastings. This time, the two detectives find themselves in France, not far from Paris. Upon arriving at the request of Mr. Renaud, they are shocked to discover that he has been murdered. What follows is a complex investigation—one that only Hercule Poirot can truly unravel. Unfortunately, between love, murder, secrets, blackmail, and elaborate setups, Poirot and Hastings struggle to identify the killer (especially Hastings).

Sadly for golf fans, there isn’t much of a golf theme in this novel—other than the fact that the victim is found on a golf course under construction.
That said, buckle up— The Murder on the Links will send your head spinning with its twists, clues, and theatrical turns. Don’t be surprised if you get a bit lost in the web Christie weaves.
Poirot and Hastings’ Second Investigation
While The Murder on the Links is Agatha Christie’s third book, it’s also the second in which we see Hercule Poirot and Hastings working together. And let me tell you—my opinion of Hastings hasn’t changed one bit. He’s still as insufferable as ever, constantly criticizing Poirot’s logic simply because he can’t keep up. His judgment becomes even worse whenever there’s a woman involved. Hastings, as you might have guessed, is far from my favorite, and sometimes I wish we could see more of Poirot’s thoughts instead of his.

Nevertheless, The Murder on the Links is another solid cozy crime novel—exactly the kind of mystery Agatha Christie excels at.
Yet Another Masterpiece from Hercule Poirot in The Murder on the Links
Once again, Hercule Poirot impresses us with his sharp deduction skills and uncanny talent for solving mysteries. What makes this case even more intriguing is that Poirot isn’t the only detective on the case—he’s in a race against the French police to uncover who is behind not one, but two murders. The goal? To find the killer before his rival does.
The Murder on the Links is a stylish cozy mystery that offers a perfect escape from the hustle of everyday life. While it’s not my absolute favorite Christie novel, the investigation is still captivating and worth the read.
