We see her on our screens every day, but for once, we saw her in person. Léna Situations came to Toulouse for the finale of her famous August vlogs.
For those who don’t know, Léna Mahfouf, also known as Léna Situations, or “Mère Mahfouf,” did us the great honor this year of visiting our dear and beautiful “Ville Rose” (Toulouse). For the past eight years, Léna has been making a video every single day during the month of August. It’s not exactly a relaxing vacation for our favorite content creator, who makes it a point to take us along wherever she goes each August. Filming videos during the day, editing at night (or whenever she can), Léna carries her camera and laptop everywhere, allowing us to experience increasingly incredible moments year after year. But as a festival has taken place in Toulouse at the end of August for the past three years, all of Léna’s fans eagerly anticipate her presence at this event. Indeed, the YouTube star is a close friend of the two creators of the Rose Festival, so everyone’s hopes and imagination lead them to search for “Mère Mahfouf” in the crowd. And while Toulouse missed out on receiving our dear Léna Situations at the past two festivals, this year she honored us with her presence at the Rose Festival. The program included dancing, music, and August vlogs, and Léna even rekindled our excitement by launching the Friday night fireworks. While she finishes her August vlogs with the “vlogos” at Camp Mahfouf in Paris, she still took the time to spend a few hours in the Ville Rose. This included a visit to the Toulouse stadium, the Rose Festival, and a discovery of Visionnaire, the boutique owned by Bigflo and Oli in the city center, where she finally signed the wall.
But while some in the crowd were crying tears of joy (thanks to the “Maman Situations” effect), one might rightly wonder why this woman inspires so much passion among young people, and who exactly is she? The French star is a perfect blend of divine and everyday woman. She’s won a People’s Choice Award, she’s young, beautiful, talented, but above all, she has a heart of gold. Léna Situations has managed to win over people’s hearts with her good humor, her ICONIC laugh, and her mantra “+=+” that follows her everywhere. If you need a dose of positivity, just open YouTube and watch Léna. But what really resonates is her ability to connect with us and show authenticity in many of her videos. While I personally distanced myself from her content for a while, this year’s August vlogs and her Instagram content have shown the return of our national Léna. We can understand that after all the challenges she’s had to endure, she needed time to rebuild and find her serenity in France. But what a joy to see “Mère Mahfouf” back in all her splendor this year. With more touching content, I feel like I’m reconnecting with an old friend.
And yet, for someone who only orders “Refresha without water” at Starbucks, life isn’t always simple. Because even though she’s not someone who stirs up trouble, her success seems to bother some people. But despite everything, nothing brings Léna Situations down for long, and she never ceases to amaze us each time. Because the businesswoman she is doesn’t stop at just a few videos on the internet. A pop-up store every year with her brand “L’Hôtel Mahfouf,” fashion shows, a book, a podcast that was number one on Spotify for a long time, a Met Gala, an award—nothing can stop her.
And despite all this, her content makes important topics accessible to everyone, and she doesn’t hesitate to tackle significant and necessary subjects in her podcast, creating an important, thoughtful, comforting, and entertaining platform. Impostor syndrome, fashion, sexuality, success, positivity, resilience, personal development, friendship—all topics are covered without taboo, with ever more prominent guests. Whether it’s just her, her best friends Marcus and Solène, or other content creators like Squeezie, Max, or Djilsi, but also Roman Frayssinet, Bigflo and Oli, or even Zendaya, Billie Eilish, Jacquemus, and Anna Wintour. Léna has conquered the world through her podcasts filled with positivity.
For those who don’t know her yet, start getting interested because you might just discover a woman full of surprises who will make you see life in pink (or yellow), but who could soon end up as President of the Republic if she doesn’t slow down her ambitions (and honestly, we’d love to see her at the Élysée, so go for it, Léna—Macron better watch out).
