Released in 2022, Surviving Summer takes us from New York to Australia, where we follow the adventures of Summer, a determined teenager who is set on following her desires and pursuing her dreams, no matter what others, including her own mother, may say.

Summer Torres is forced to leave her life in New York behind after her mother sends her to Australia for a month and a half. She ends up staying with a friend of her mother’s whom she doesn’t know, in a country on the other side of the world.

There, she befriends Ari Gibson, the son of the family she’s staying with, as well as Poppy Tetanui, Marlon Sousa, and Bodhisattva Mercer. They are all connected by a single passion: surfing. Despite her attempts to secretly return to New York, Summer eventually gets used to the Australian climate and decides to take up this sport, which requires discipline and helps her find meaning in her life.

With two seasons currently available, Surviving Summer stands out from other series by allowing us to extend the salty taste of summer a little longer.

Highlighting competition, passion, and teamwork, Surviving Summer also delves into the depths of our souls, addressing more complex topics such as grief, post-traumatic stress, and anxiety attacks, as well as the challenges of acknowledging and managing these issues.

Surviving Summer follows the tight-knit group from Shorehaven through various surf competitions, each more significant than the last. The series portrays competition between teams and among friends, while also emphasizing the importance of being true to our emotions and feelings, and shedding light on the value of friendship.

With characters full of ambition, it’s a pleasure to see the importance of following one’s dreams and believing in oneself.

Beyond just a series about surfing, it also incorporates necessary diversity in terms of orientation and the background of the characters.

Surviving Summer establishes itself as a refreshing yet captivating series. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t wait any longer to dive into this adventure with Summer.

With a heart that beats to the rhythm of distant lands, Ataraxia’s passion for travel is nothing short of ferocious. She is drawn to the unusual, the offbeat, the places where most people don’t think to go. Whether it’s a hidden alley in a foreign city or a forgotten village nestled in the mountains, she finds beauty and meaning in every corner of the world.
