A year after the release of their latest album Veil under the Vicious Circle label, Lysistrata is back with an electrifying new track, “GET FIXED”. This explosive song sees the French trio joining forces with Alex Edkins, vocalist and guitarist of the Canadian band Metz, for an intense fusion of post-hardcore and noise rock.

Produced by Ben Greenberg, who previously worked with Lysistrata on Veil, “GET FIXED” continues to showcase the band’s signature sound: a raw and intricate blend of controlled chaos, sharp riffs, and pounding rhythms. Since their inception, Lysistrata has established itself as a key player in the European indie rock scene, seamlessly blending the energy of punk, the complexity of post-rock, and the intensity of noise.

Known for their electrifying live performances, the band has built a reputation for delivering cathartic and high-energy concerts across Europe. This February, Lysistrata will embark on a Canadian tour alongside the Belgian band It It Anita, before hitting the road in France until the summer.

Veil: A Year in Review

Released in March last year, Veil marked a significant turning point for Lysistrata. After a four-year wait since their acclaimed 2019 album Breathe In/Out, the band returned with a record that perfectly balanced their signature complex post-hardcore sound with more immediate, gripping melodies. The decision to entrust production to Ben Greenberg (Algiers, Beach Fossils, Metz) proved to be a masterstroke, pushing the trio to refine their songwriting and deliver a more condensed, yet no less powerful, album.

Spanning ten intense tracks, Veil leaves a lasting impact with its ability to channel the haunting post-punk essence of bands like The Murder Capital (notably on Artifice and See Through) while embracing the anthemic urgency of At the Drive-In (Acid to the Burn, Feel the Shine). The record frequently evokes the raw energy of Relationship of Command (2000), the genre-defining masterpiece, with tracks like the fierce Rise Up and the seismic Trouble Don’t Last featuring a bassline powerful enough to shake walls.

The album’s production matches the abrasiveness of their sound perfectly. Horns, with its exhilarating buildup, stands out as a sophisticated single, while tracks like Okay introduce subtle electronic textures that add depth to their sonic landscape. Notably, Veil opens on an unexpected note with Tangled in the Leaves, where acoustic guitar chords set a melancholic yet tense atmosphere, gradually suffocating as the intensity builds.

With their relentless energy, sophisticated compositions, and undeniable chemistry, Lysistrata continues to carve out their own path in the post-hardcore landscape. And with “GET FIXED”, they prove once again that they are far from slowing down.

A natural-born writer and poet, Atanaria’s pen dances with a rhythm that only she knows. Her passion for the unspoken, the mysterious, and the forgotten led her to create The Nerdy Virginias—a publication that would later evolve into Asteria, a testament to her love for the hidden corners of culture. Here, she explores the fringes of society, where subcultures thrive away from the blinding lights of the mainstream.
